However, he doesn't like being the way he is and only shows his other side to those he trusts (not many). Though he pretends not to care, he does little things for people that if interpreted closely show that he does care; though he would never admit it. Ryu likes high places and feels more comfortable when high up where he can see everything. His favorite place is an abandonned cathederal not far from his home town. There he likes to climb to the top and spend his time when he's alone. If he's not at that cathederal watching over his hometown, then he is at the sister cathederal across the waters located in the city. He feels safety in those places that bring back good memories of his past. Those who are up late at night and look to the cathederal will see him sat on top of the roof watching over them. Those who have seen him like this have nicknamed him the nighthawk. Some see him as a protector, some see him as a curse. At night he wears black to blend in with the shadows, during the day he wears black drainpipes and a navy shirt along with black and silver pendants around his neck; he is barely recognisable as the nighthawk during the day. When among the public he keeps a cool, laid back personality but remains a loner and refrains from talking to people. If he meets someone he's interested in he may show his true colours or he may flirt a little. He likes music and art and is usually drawn to sounds or images he likes, he is quite musical and creative himself.

It was located in the bottom of a valley with the homes of the people that lived there built onto the valley slope. A large abandonned cathederal stood at the top of the valley looking down onto the small town. Ryuusei was born to a couple that had gone into hiding because of family matters. They both came from large, upper-class families with high social status, wealth and power. When Ryu's mom and dad met they didn't know that their two families were rivals in the world, both competing for status and power. Both families had relatives that were part of the goverment and when a top position was been offered the families became enemies in order to take that position of power. Ever since, their rivalry has continued. The two found out about their family conflicts and kept their relationship secret from their family, knowing that only trouble would come from telling them. However, they found out; and when they found out that she was pregnant with his child trouble brewed up more. The families agreed that it was wrong to get rid of the child (Ryu) but didn't like the fact that the two rivals had been brought together like this, a child born of the blood of both families. They told the couple that they could be together if they wanted to, but if they stayed together then they would no longer be part of the family. They chose love over family and were disowned. Though when Ryu was born he was taken from his parents and forced to live with his relatives who used him for their selfish purposes. Soon he got caught up in all sorts of trouble caused by the families who continued to fight against each other. The town itself knew of the feud between the two families of power and, been a tight-knit town, they refused to have anything to do with Ryu who they blamed to be the cause of all the problems. Ryu grew up learning that emotions were useless in the world and he became strong, he took punishments and the wrath of the families when things went wrong and didn't complain. At first he would cry, reach out in hope for some sympathy, but he soon learned that it was useless.
One day when he was roaming the town, he recognised a couple who seemed to be having a hard time with a gang. He darted in and helped them, resulting in him getting hurt also. When the couple offered to help him in return for saving them, he ran away and took refuge in the old cathederal at the top of the valley. When a noise from behind him sounded he turned around to see the couple stood behind. They explained who they were and they were his parents. They made a pact to meet in the cathederal everynight when he could get away from the family, and they did so for two years. One night he went to meet them and found a note scribbled on some paper in their place. It told him that they had moved out of town due to circumstances with the families. They had found out about the secret meetings and come after his parents who had fled across the waters to the city. It told him to run away if he wanted to be spared of punishment. Next to the note was a case that contained a violin which his parents had left for him as a memento if they never saw him again. Ryu watched the town for the rest of the night and early in the morning, he left to go after his parents; leaving his 'family' behind and taking the violin with him.
Ryu remembered how they used to speak of a cathederal that was sister to the one in his home town. He got to the city and immediately saw the cathederal. He stayed there every night and through the day he wandered, looking for his parents. People begun to talk about the mysterious newcomer and also begun to talk about a mysterious guy who stayed in the cathederal, stood there like a ghost looking down upon the city. Rumors went around but never linked the new guy to the guy on the cathederal. Ryu begun to see another newcomer wandering the streets whom he recognised; almost following him everywhere. One night he went back up to the cathederal to find his mom and dad there. They had heard the rumors and come to find out if it was him. A moment of joy washed over them, but not for long. He turned to see the newcomer pointing a gun at them. The trigger was pulled and his parents felt to the ground dead, their flesh burning from where the silver bullet had touched their skin. Ryu turned to the murderor of his parents and questioned her. Asking her who she was and why she had done what she did. She replied that she was a relative, a cousin of his from his fathers side of the family, sent to take down his parents who seemed to be causing trouble in the families name. Also sent, to take him back. The two fought and Reimei (his cousin) was forced to make a getaway, vowing to come back.
Ryu was injured during the fight and he escaped out of the cathederal to the water fountain to wash his wounds. There he met Akito who bandaged his wounds. Akito told him of his own past while he helped Ryu. Ryu barely took much noticed until Akito mentioned his own family situation. Turned out that Akito's situation was vaguely similar to his own. The two talked but part was through the conversation Ryu ran off, back to the cathederal where his parents were killed. There he greived for his loss. Akito followed him and helped Ryu overcome his loss, the two became friends, best friends, then almost like siblings. Akito was like the brother that Ryu had never had, he could fill in the place that was missing from is family. The two had their own things to do, but when together, they were inseperable, messing around and playfighting like kids, winding each other up. Akito was the only one who Ryu felt he could open up to. Gradually, Ryu begun to see less and less of Akito who had started university and spent a lot of time studying. Akito broke the news to Ryu that he was moving to a more well-established university in another city. Ryu, argued with Akito he didn't want to lose his best friend but he didn't want to leave the memories of his parents behind that lingered in the cathederals. Moving with Akito would mean leaving everything way behind, everything that he was certain of; that bothered him. Akito left, and Ryu reverted back to the watcher of the city again, wondering alone. He was soon nicknamed by the city as the Nighthawk; though during the day no one recognised him.

Random Details: He has weak points that make him behave oddly, because of these weak points he never really gets close to people. These weak points are his ears and his sides (near his hips). If touched on the ears or sides by a girl then he will go bright red and maybe become really clumsy, at the worst he will just collapse and turn like jelly where he can hardly move. If he is poked in the side by anyone then he may start to twitch a lot. These things happen due to those areas being very sensitive, though he will react differently to different people.
